Represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba", the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won 3 international medals in the competitions of the third edition of the " European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics" 2023 (EGOI), hosted by the State of Sweden during the period from 15-21 July 2023, with 189 students, representing 52 countries, engaged.
Student Leen Majed Qanash (secondary third grade, from the Jeddah Education Department), who received 1862 training hours, won a silver medal; Student Rifal Khaled Al-Hazmi (secondary first grade, from the Tabuk Education Department), who received 1585 training hours, won a bronze medal; and Student Juri Ibrahim Aljohani (secondary third grade, from Madinah Education Department), who received 1862 training hours, won another bronze medal.
The Secretary-General of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba", Dr. Amal Al-Hazza, praised the support of the wise leadership of the people of the country, which given rise to such uniqueness and excellence among developed countries across international forums and competitions, and congratulated the Ministry of Education, students, their families, schools, and teachers for the achievements made, wishing them more success and progress.
Al-Hazza also pointed to the enormous and continuous support of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef Al-Benyan, given to Mawhiba and his public education talented sons and daughters, including his keenness to provide all the necessary means and capabilities for the success of the fruitful partnership experience between the Ministry and Mawhiba and to transfer such experience to wider horizons, in order to empower talented Saudis and their podiums.
"This win reflects the strategic and integrated partnership and concerted efforts between Mawhiba and its partners: the Ministry of Education, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and their strategic partners, aimed to make great accomplishments, win international awards, achieve the initiatives and objectives of KSA Vision 2030, and be ahead of making the Kingdom among the top 20 countries in the world in education and qualification” Dr. Al-Hazza explained.
The Kingdom's engagement, represented by "Mawhiba" Foundation and the Ministry of Education, in international competitions and forums, comes within a complete journey and an integrated ecosystem adopted by Mawhiba Foundation called "The Gifted Student Journey", and includes several initiatives, including Mawhiba classes, academic and research enrichment summer programs, apprenticeship and innovation programs, and enrollment in prestigious international universities.
It is worth noting that this is the second time the Kingdom to engage in EGOI, where it won 3 medals in the first time to engage, bringing the number of medals that it achieved to 6 medals.
