The country’s gifted people fly in the ISEF 2022 space and win 7 special awards


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba" and the Ministry of Education, won for the sixteenth year in a row  7 special awards during its participation in the *Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair “ISEF" held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, from May 7 to 13. The KSA participates in it, represented by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba" and the Ministry of Education.
 
These special awards have been achieved by the student, Abdullah Al Ghamdi of Eastern Province Education Department, who won two awards in the field of energy, the student, Dana Alaithan of Al Ahsa Education Department in the field of chemistry, the student, Maria Al Ghamdi of Riyadh Education Department, who won two awards in the field of chemistry and the student, Yousef Khojah of Jeddah Education Department in the field of embedded systems. 
 
H.E. Dr. Saud Al Mathami, Secretary General of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba" Foundation, extended his warmest congratulations and compliments to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and H.H. the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense - may Allah protect them - for this new national achievement, which has been achieved by the grace of Allah Almighty, and then with the unlimited support of the leadership for the country's sons, which resulted in this uniqueness in international forums.
He also congratulated the students, their families, schools and teachers for the achievement, wishing them further success. 
 
Dr. Al Mathami said: This achievement is added to the series of successive achievements of the country's gifted sons and daughters. It reflects the concerted efforts and the complementary relationship between Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education and their strategic partners, aiming at achieving the goals and initiatives of the KSA's Vision 2030. He also praises the results and outcomes of this partnership reaching many international achievements and representing the KSA in a manner befitting its stature, which contributes to building the country's future and enhancing its human wealth.
 
During the ceremony of announcing the special awards results, “Mawhiba" Foundation announced the names of 19 male and female students from different countries all over the world, who won its special awards in the field of energy at the Regeneron Science and Engineering Fair “ISEF 2022", as annual usual. It presented major awards for the winning projects, several special awards and fellowships at Mawhiba Universal Enrichment Program and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
 
Six male and female students, 3 Saudis and 3 Americans, won fellowships to participate in Mawhiba Universal Enrichment Program, in addition to a cash award. 13 male and female students from the United States, India, China and Canada won scholarship awards for undergraduate studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. 
 
 
H.E. Dr. Al Mathami congratulated the creative students who won the special awards of Mawhiba, confirming that Mawhiba's sponsorship of the energy field at ISEF 2022 emerges from the KSA's Vision 2030, its awareness of the important Saudi role as a world primary source of energy and its endeavor to continue sustainable development by maintaining energy sources, in addition to encouraging creators and gifted students around the world to develop projects and innovations in the field of renewable and sustainable energy, to develop knowledge, skills and experiences and to develop projects that allow maintaining such sources for future generations.

Maya Ajmera, President of Society for Science, in turn said during Mawhiba's meeting with the students of the energy track: Mawhiba is a great institution making huge efforts to prepare future creators, not only in Saudi Arabia, but around the world.
On the margins of ISEF 2022, Mawhiba held a symposium entitled “The Journey of Mawhiba's Students in Gifted Science Education (STEM) Leading Collective Intelligence to Develop the Global Society", presented by Professor Micho Kaku, Professor of Theoretical Physics at New York College, who confirmed that countries investing in young minds and directing them to creativity and invention have a strongly growing economy, unlike countries that do not.

Professor Micho added that communication skills are essential for communicating ideas and producing an impact by any innovator and creator, pointing out that understanding science alone is not enough for creativity, because we always need to convince others to support our ideas and cooperate with us to achieve them.
