King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba" and Coursera have signed a contract to cooperate in training and qualifying more than 10,000 of Mawhiba students in the scientific and technical fields over the course of 3 years, and to benefit from the Company's global presence to employ its distinguished students in global technology companies.
At the signing ceremony, held at the Foundation's premises in Riyadh, Mawhiba was represented by Dr. Basil AsSadhan -Mawhiba, Deputy Secretary General for Gifted Services, while Coursera was represented by Anthony Tattersall, the Company's President in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA).
The agreement aims to cooperate in providing a set of licenses for outstanding specialized (science and skill-based) courses for gifted students offered through the widespread Coursera educational platform, contributing to the development of student abilities, and providing a qualitative enrichment of what is offered to gifted students by expanding the students' knowledge and expertise in various scientific issues that affect their lives and their communities.
It also includes training teachers and granting them certificates to teach online, converting Mawhiba's books in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to curricula to be taught in online and virtual laboratories, and granting professional certificates to the Mawhiba's students for entry-level jobs.
The CEO of Coursera and the accompanying delegation watched the Mawhiba film to get acquainted with its vision, mission and efforts to develop the capabilities of gifted students and bring them to a stage of excellence according to the latest scientific methods in identifying, nurturing, and educating gifted students.
